When choosing a floor stain colour that is going to be a permanent feature of your home, you should consider things such as:
Style: neutral tones like light browns or honey can feel classic and timeless, while darker stains like espresso or walnut can feel more modern.
Room size: darker floors can make a large room feel more intimate, while lighter floors can make a small room feel larger.
Lighting: lighter floors reflect more light and can make a room feel larger, while darker floors absorb more light and can make a room feel more intimate.
Cleanliness: lighter floors can hide dust and food crumbs better than dark floors, so you might need to sweep dark floors more often.
Furniture: you could contrast white kitchen cabinets with espresso-toned floors or pair cream-colored furniture with soft gray wood stain.
Depth: lighter colours can create more colour variation and depth in the wood grain when bright light is reflected.
